The birth of Paper de Música, administratively speaking, was necessary so that the development of the activity started on autumn 1988 should not be limited. The idea was to bring classical music to villages and help to promote young musicians, and still goes on.
On 1993 the Associació Paper de Música was created as an organization without purpose of profit, and on 1999 it became the Fundació Privada Paper de Música. This meant an institutional acknowledgement.
From the idea of promoting young musicians and the organization of Concerts of the four Seasons in our hall, we developed several lines of proceedings, which explain our present reality.
Enumerated by chronological order they are as follows:
1991. First Competition to Promote Young Interpreters. From 1996 it becomes Competition Paper de Música de Capellades and from 2009 International Competition Paper de Música de Capellades.
1991. Opening of the Music Hall Paper de Música. From then we added to the Concerts of the Four Seasons, more concerts up to the number of 10/12 per annum. From 1994, we offer on January the programme for the whole year, also in this web, in Catalan.
1993. First International Course of Chamber Music from Capellades, also taking part the School of Music from Capellades and sponsored by the City Hall of the village. This course has been taking place up to 2005.
1993. Installation of a professional recording equipment, for our own use (a CD and a DVD is given to the interpreters of concerts in our hall) and for the use of musicians connected with Paper de Música.
2000. First Lied Course.
2001. Beginning of a new monthly activity: Film showing and debate.
2010. We have produced a two volume book Paper de Música 20 Years of Concerts from 1988 to 2008, written in Catalan. It will be soon introduced on this web so that people who are interested can consult it to look for information about artists who have been in charge of all these concerts and about works that have been played in them.
2010. Lied Course. This year on its 10th edition with two extra concerts during the Course to celebrate the birth anniversary of Robert Schumann (200), and Hugo Wolf (150).
Throughout all these years Paper de Música has collaborated with several entities from the village to organize several cultural ceremonies in our hall.
All this support to music has been acknowledged with several prizes: 1991. Música al Peu de la Tarda from Ràdio Nacional. 1998. Acknowledgement from the Catalan Association of Interpreters of Classical Music. 1998. Jaume I d’Actuació Cívica Catalana. 2005. Cultural Prize to the Sponsorship and Industrial Patronage in Spain, given to Romanyà Valls, S. A. because it offers an example to many small and medium companies.
The success of our activity, held by constant and thrilled work, could not be understood without the participation of the audience in every concert and the involvement of the artists who perform in our music hall.
On the other hand, there are several people contributing: - Members of the Jury of the International Competition Paper de Música de Capellades - Members of the Assessors Committee for the same Competition that collaborate mainly in giving concerts in festivals, universities, etc. to the winners - Members of the Film Showing and Debate, who help in the choice of films and lecturers for the debate. - Several papers, radios, TV, etc. announce our activities.
That is why, from this web, we want to thank them all, and wish these collaborations go on for many years!
